Gun Rental Rules
At Whispering Pines Shooting Range (WPSR), we understand that purchasing a new handgun, rifle, or shotgun is a big decision. Whether you want to try a specific model or are unsure where to start, our team can help.
Our range offers a selection of firearms and accessories to rent — including Sig Sauer, Shadow Systems, Taurus, HUXWRX, Springfield, and Smith & Wesson — so you can find a fit before you buy. Eye and ear protection is available to rent, or you may use your own.
Firearm safety is always our top priority. An NRA Certified Range Safety Officer (RSO) is present during all live fire. The RSO can assist if needed, enforces all range safety rules, and has the final say over the safety of everyone on the range.

4 Gun Safety Rules
- ALWAYS treat your firearm as if it is loaded.
- ALWAYS point your firearm down range.
- ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
- ALWAYS be aware of your target and what is beyond it.
Gun range & rental rules
- Every customer must have an annual, up-to-date liability waiver on file and current paid range fees to use the range and rent firearms.
- First-time visitors to WPSR must be accompanied by a current range member to rent firearms and accessories.
- Outside ammunition is not authorized in any WPSR rental firearm. Purchase ammunition on location at the time of rental.
- All firearms must be holstered, have a rifle/pistol chamber safety flag (available at the range) in the chamber, and/or be cased while entering, exiting, or elsewhere on the premises — unless you are in your shooting stall.
- Eye and ear protection are mandatory on the range.
- Do not bring food, drinks, or vaping and tobacco products onto the range.
- Never cross the firing line for any reason. Alert the RSO to help retrieve a fallen item.
- All commands issued by the RSO are final. If you see an unsafe situation, alert the RSO immediately.
- All gun safety rules must be followed inside the range. Good trigger discipline is enforced at all times: keep your finger outside the trigger guard, usually pressed against the frame above the trigger and parallel with the barrel, until ready to fire.
